Self-proclaimed Bunge la Mwananchi President Calvince Okoth alias Gaucho, who is a die-hard stance of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga, has come out to explain why the opposition chief opted to keep off from Tuesday’s demonstrations.
Calvince Okoth has released his statement confirming that he, alongside Embakasi member of parliament Babu Owino and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna drove in Raila Odinga’s motorcade. As planned, the police followed the motorcade having been fooled that Raila was driving in as well.
Yes. We were in Raila Odinga’s car. The police were after us thinking that Odinga was in the vehicle.”
Gaucho said.

Gaucho Explains Why Raila was not Part of the Team
He further explained the reason why the opposition leader was not part of the team citing that this was because there was information that some leaders from Kenya Kwanza had intended to use his image to paint the demonstrations as chaotic.
The reason why Mr Odinga was not with us is because there was information that some leaders from Kenya Kwanza were planning to cause mayhem and paint the Azimio demos as chaotic.”
He added.

Gaucho’s statement comes barely hours after Azimio la Umoja principal Martha Karua accused the Kenya Kwanza government of instructing the police to disrupt their protests despite having promised to make them peaceful.
At the break of dawn, police got stations in all parts of Nairobi Metropolis and city centre to prevent us from proceeding with our peaceful protests as planned. Unfortunately, because of the mayhem, we were not able to present the petitions to the four offices.”
Karua said.
The Narc-Kenya party leader also stated that the demonstrations will resume officially on Thursday, May 4th.
Despite these developments, we are energised that Kenyans are determined to claim their country. We march on. Tomorrow we take a break to strategise and recharge. Our protests will resume on Thursday, May 4. Same meeting, same office and same people.”
Martha Karua remarked.
