President Joe Biden formally stated on Tuesday that he will seek reelection in 2024 with a new slogan “Let’s FINISH THE JOB.” In order to “finish this job” and extend the tenure of America’s oldest president for an additional four years, Joe Biden is pleading with voters to grant him more time.
Biden, who would be 86 at the end of a second term, is hoping that his record on the legislative front during his first term and his more than 50 years of experience in Washington, D.C., would outweigh any concerns about his advanced age. With no significant Democratic opponents, he has an easy path to obtaining his party’s candidacy. But he is still in for a tough fight to keep the president in a deeply divided country.
In his speech, Biden highlighted his achievements since he entered the White House. He mentioned thousands of construction that began under his administration, he further mentioned legislations that he signed into law and how it would impact Americans.
“Let’s Goe Joe” chants from his supporters filled the air.
Together, “we—you and I—are turning things around, and we’re doing it in a big way,” Biden remarked. “It’s time to finish the job. Finish the Job”
The three-minute video that serves as Biden’s campaign kick-off comes exactly four years after he first announced his candidacy for president in 2019, promising to restore the “soul of the nation” despite Donald Trump’s divisive administration. This objective has proven to be slippery.

“I said we are in a battle for the soul of America, and we still are,” Biden said. “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer.”
For the majority of modern presidents, the possibility of running for re-election has been given, but Biden hasn’t always had that luxury. Because of his age, a sizeable portion of Democratic voters have stated they would rather he not run. These worries have been deemed “totally legitimate” by Biden, something that he avoided directly addressing in his campaign Video.

However, a few issues have brought Democratic voters together like the possibility of Donald Trump returning to power. Democrats are politically optimistic after performing well in the mid-term elections last year. This boosted the confidence of Democrats in their President. The president plans to run on the same platforms that helped his party earn support in the previous election, particularly on protecting access to abortion.
“Freedom. Personal freedom is fundamental to who we are as Americans. There’s nothing more important. Nothing more sacred,” Biden said
In the debut video, Biden portrayed Republican extremists as attempting to restrict voting rights, slash Social Security, restrict access to abortion, and ban publications they disagree with.
“Around the country, MAGA extremists are lining up to take those bedrock freedoms away.” Biden Said
Biden intends to run on his accomplishments as the campaign’s general themes start to take form. He spent his first two years in office fighting the coronavirus outbreak and advancing important legislation like the bipartisan infrastructure package, laws promoting high-tech manufacturing, and environmental regulations.
The president is also pleading with voters to give him another chance to fulfill a number of policy objectives and unfulfilled campaign pledges.
“Let’s finish this job. I know we can,” Biden said in the video.
President Joe Biden sticks with Vice President Kamala Harris despite rocky tenure as vice-president
A sitting president switching their running mate for another is extremely uncommon. The last time it happened was in 1976 when Republican Gerald Ford dropped Nelson Rockefeller to run with Bob Dole on a ticket, but he lost to Democrat Jimmy Carter.
However, persistent rumors that President Joe Biden would change his mind have surfaced, partly as a result of Harris’s low approval ratings as Vice President. In accordance with the Real Clear Politics average, she is disliked by more than 54% of Americans.
That might not be a problem, but for President Joe Biden’s age, which most analysts say is his greatest electoral weakness. He is the oldest US president still in office at age 80. He would be 82 when sworn in for a second term if re-elected and 86 when his term was out. Harris is also first in line to succeed if the president dies while in office because of her position as vice president.
People close to the president argue that Biden has never thought about replacing Harris because he relies on a very small, well-knit core of veteran aides and advisors. According to a Democratic operative, doing so would be the same as admitting he chose her for 2020 in error.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who appeared alongside Biden prominently in the ad, held a political event at Howard University in Washington on Tuesday night in support of abortion access, beginning her own initiatives to help the re-election campaign.
Vice President Kamala Harris said that she’s “proud to run for re-election with President Joe Biden,” Harris added, “Our hard-won freedoms are under attack. And this is a moment for us to stand and fight.”
In the film, President Joe Biden speaks over small vignettes of his presidency, images of many Americans, and quick glimpses of outspoken Republican opponents like Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. Insisting that “this is our moment” to “defend democracy,” he urges his supporters. Defend our rights to privacy. Defend our civil rights and the freedom to vote.
President Joe Biden’s Economic, Defence, and Foreign Policy
In addition, President Joe Biden intends to highlight his efforts over the previous two years to strengthen American allies, including his leadership of a worldwide coalition to defend Ukraine’s defenses against a Russian invasion and the United States re-joining of the Paris Climate Agreement. But in recent months, American popular support for Ukraine has waned, and some people now doubt the necessity of sending Kyiv tens of billions of dollars in military and economic aid.
President Joe Biden is also the focus of GOP assaults on his immigration and economic policies, and he has endured criticism for his administration’s messy 2021 departure from Afghanistan after nearly 20 years of war. This undercut the image of competence the president sought to project.
In his campaign for president in 2020, Biden emphasized to voters his knowledge of Washington’s political establishment and his global connections. However, he was well aware of the voters’ worries about his age even at that time.
“Look, I view myself as a bridge, not as anything else,” Biden said in March 2020, as he campaigned in Michigan with younger Democrats, including Harris, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
“There’s an entire generation of leaders you saw stand behind me. They are the future of this country.” Biden
Allies of Biden claim that three years later, with the president at 80, his experience in office has shown that he saw himself more as a transformational than as a transitional leader.
With the announcement for re-election, 2024 is at play.
