Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has told off the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party over anti-government protests.
Honorable Musalia Mudavadi was speaking in Mombasa County early in the day when he met Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. Mudavadi said that Kenyans should not disrupt the economy at a critical moment when it is picking up.
We cannot afford to disrupt the economy. Let us move forward. Election cycles have their constitutional timings and we have just come out of it six months ago, we need to move forward as a nation. We cannot keep going back to an issue that has been conversed up to the highest court in the land.”
Musalia Mudavadi said.
Musalia Mudavadi further emphasized that Kenyan is a unitary state. Hence, there’s no way we can have two governments.
It has been dealt with fully and want to make it very clear that we are a unitary state. We cannot have two governments and therefore, we want to tell leaders in the other quarters, please be responsible. Why do you cheat people that you can create another government in Kenya?”
he posed.
The prime cabinet secretary has warned the Azimio la Umoja coalition against attempts to resume their weekly demonstrations which they have announced will be after the Holy Month of Ramadan has come to an end.

Musalia Mudavadi has urged politicians to stop driving the country back into dark days.
I want to tell Azimio, please do not try and wish a revisitation of the ICC in Kenya. You are provoking Kenyans, trying to instigate chaos and trying to create a spark that will lead in disruption of normalcy. President Ruto and many Kenyans have restrained themselves trying to ensure the country remains peaceful. Let us not destroy our country. This shrewd move and ill-motives by Azimio to try and say they are looking for talks like the Koffi Annan Serena talks is an exercises in futility.”
Mudavadi remarked.

He further said that the demands being put on the table by the Azimio la Umoja brigade are unrealistic and not open at all costs.
When you say the servers have to be opened, why are you forgetting and taking Kenyans for fools. The supreme court ordered that the servers be opened and the registrar of the supreme court led that exercise under the watch of lawyers from both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza. What new thing do you want?”
posed Musalia Mudavadi.
He also said that Kenyans are facing tough times at the moment and engaging in meaningless demonstrations is causing the country a lot of negative impacts as far as economic progress is concerned.
You cannot overtax Kenyans. They also need to breathe. If you plan demonstrations, will you be able to compensate those who lose property that adds up to millions and millions of Kenya shillings? Let us keep our eyes on the ball. The ball is how to turn around our economy for it to work for all Kenyans especially uplifting the lives of those Kenyans at the lowest pyramid of our economy.”
Musalia Mudavadi remarked.
Musalia Mudavadi’s claims come days after veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga, on April 13th, while attending a town hall meeting in the capital, said that a resumption date of the weekly protests will be announced after Ramadan.
The people have called on the Azimio leadership to immediately resume maandamano after the end of Ramadan.”
Said Raila Odinga.
Earlier on, the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua had reacted to the statement released by the opposition chief Raila Odinga calling back demonstrations after Ramadan.
We want to tell Raila Odinga, if you want to go back to the streets, just go but we will not hold any talks with you.”
Rigathi Gachagua emphasized.
On the very same consent, Majority Leader of the Senate Aaron Cheruiyot on Friday, April 14, called on the Azimio la Umoja coalition to choose between bipartisan talks in the parliament and street demonstrations.
Is it bipartisan talks or the streets, you cannot have it both ways. No double chance betting. You must believe in something.”
Cheruiyot said.
Raila Odinga’s announcement on Thursday 13th April, to his supporters on the resumption of protests after Ramadan festivities have been concluded was received with hostility by the Kenya Kwanza officials.
Raila Odinga made it clear that the countrywide mass and bipartisan negotiations will go in hand.
“Do we agree that mass action and negotiations should go in hand? Immediately after Ramadan, I will announce when the countrywide mass action will return.
Odinga clarified.
[…] WE CAN NEVER HAVE TWO GOVERNMENTS IN KENYA- MUSALIA MUDAVADI. […]
