President William Ruto on Friday, April 28, made a promise to Kenyans, announcing that citizens should expect new prices of maize flour as of next week.
The president made this announcement while speaking to members of the public in Ongata Rongai. Ruto also added that his government is working effortlessly, in every way possible to ensure that the unga prices drop further, in order to ease the lives of the common mwananchi.
We have used our brains to reduce the price of unga, not even a shilling. Next week you will see new unga prices in the market.”

President William Ruto reveals Government plan to lower cost of living
Ruto also said that the government has laid down to reduce the price of maize flour to Ksh. 150 per 2kg packet, a price down from Ksh. 240.
Unga was retailing at Sh240 but we have ensured that the price has dropped to Sh150 without introducing a subsidy program. And next week, you will see new prices because I’m working to ensure the prices drop further.”
Added President William Ruto.
The head of state also made a surprise attack on the Azimio la Umoja team led by Raila Odinga, stating that they played a role in increasing unga prices and still vow to continue with their organized weekly protests.
Those who played a role in increasing unga prices to Sh230 are now busy planning protests.
President William Ruto said.

Away from unga prices, the President as well spoke of his plans to construct affordable housing units in Kajiado County. This is after having made arrangements with the sitting governor, Joseph Ole Lenku, who also agreed with the President’s plans.

We want to build the first 5,000 affordable housing units. This will open job opportunities for 15,000 youth in Kajiado who will help in the construction of the houses.”

The government plans to build over 200,000 housing units every year, whereby which should help to reduce the two million housing units deficit. This project saw the head of state announce plans for the introduction of a housing levy that will see employees contribute 3% of their salary every month.
