Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, on Thursday, April 28, announced that Kenyans will stand a chance to benefit more from job opportunities in the United States of America.
The announcement came after Mutua, who was in company with his Trade docket counterpart Moses Kuria, held a meeting with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington Dc.
Part of the resolutions of the meeting, according to the CS, included speeding up visa applications and opening access for more jobs for Kenyans in the United States.
I have held a bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the State Department in Washington Dc. In cooperation existing between our two countries which is founded on mutual trust, friendship and shared interests which have grown extensively since the establishment of site strategic dialogue. During the bilateral session, and in five intense pillar sessions, we discussed and agreed on our partnership in the areas of trade and investment for jobs creation and visas for youth empowerment, health, food security, climate change, regional peace and security.”

More Opportunities for Kenyans
The CS also advised and encouraged Kenyans to apply for jobs in the United States, citing that the US is setting up a framework that Kenyans will get visas quickly so as to work in the country.

Dr. Alfred Mutua also spoke about the interest of Kenya intending to upgrade the United Nations office in Nairobi, a project which the United States government has committed to support.

Kenya is the only country hosting a United Nations office in the global South- others being in New York, Geneva and Vienna. This has led to economic prosperity in Kenya. The UN office in Nairobi was established several decades ago and thus requires to meet international standards. The United States committed to support the project.”

During the Washington meeting, the duo also talked about the intertwined agreement in supporting youth programs, empowering SMEs, and growing wealth. The United States being one of the valued partners in Kenya’s efforts to stabilize the region for peace and security, gave the two government officials an additional chance to discuss matters of security and defense partnerships.
The Bottom Up “Hustlers” economic model was acknowledged as a fantastic and viable model. We discussed partnerships in supporting youth programs, empowering our SME’s and growing wealth. The United States is one of the valued partners on Kenya’s efforts to stabilize the region for peace and security. We discussed many security and defence partnerships.”

The Foreign Affairs CS further said that Kenya had benefited in four other areas from the high-powered delegation on tour in the United States of America. Either, the CS hailed Kenya’s deal with American pharmaceuticals company Moderna which is set to build a vaccine production factory in Kenya this year.
