‘Jubilee Party’ Expels Kanini Kega And Sabina Chege

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party yesterday, Friday, May 5, took a bold step of stripping off memberships of East African Legislative Assembly (MP) Kanini Kega and nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege from the party.

The Secretary General of Jubilee Party Jeremiah Kioni, through a statement, has requested the Registrar of Political Parties in the country Ann Nderitu to consider the removal of Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege from the party. This decision was arrived at following the violation of the party’s rules by the two, whereby they had, on Wednesday, May 3rd, attempted to outsit the leadership of the party out of their own will.

This is to notify you that Honourable Kanini Kega has pursuant to Section 14 of the political parties Act No. 1 of 2011 as read together with Article 6 of the Jubilee Party Constitution ceased from being a member of the Jubilee party.”

Jubilee Party doesn’t have an ‘Acting Party Leader’ Position – Kioni

Jeremiah Kioni further went on to state that Kanini Kega’s actions were a mischievous take of the party’s constitution and codes of conduct, this was expressed through conferring Honourable Sabina Chege the position of Acting Party Leader and making himself a self-postured Secretary General of the Jubilee Party. Kanini Kega executed his mandates without following the right process laid down by the Jubilee Party constitution.

Honourable Kanini Kega has contravened the party’s constitution and code of conduct by purporting to dislodge and/or overthrow the Jubilee Party leader herein being His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta without following the due process as established under the Jubilee Constitution. 
The outfit also claimed that Kanini Kega had contravened the Jubilee Party Constitution by usurping the powers of the National Delegate Conference by conferring the Honourable Sabina Wanjiru Chege the position of Acting Party Leader.
Kanini Kega has contravened the Jubilee’s Party Constitution by conferring unto himself the position of the Secretary-General without following the due process as laid down under the Jubilee Party Constitution.”

Jeremiah Kioni also stroke the axe on Sabina Chege’s shoulder, citing that the lawmaker had created a non-existing position of the ‘Acting Party Leader’ in his own regard. He also accused Sabina Wanjiru Chege of misleading the public and the Kenya National Assembly.

Honourable Sabina Wanjiru Chege has violated the Jubilee Party Constitution by usurping the powers of the National Delegates Conference by creating a non-existing position of the ‘Acting Party Leader’ a preserve of the National Delegates Conference.”
