GIVE RAILA ODINGA A JOB; COTU Sec. General Francis Atwoli

Raila Odinga needs a job. While delivering his speech during the Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi on Monday, May 1, Central Organization of Trade Unions Kenya Sec. General Francis Atwoli asked President William Ruto to give Raila Odinga a job.

Giving Raila Odinga a Job Will help secure National Peace

Francis Atwoli claimed that this move by the ruling government will help secure peace in the country amid the protests witnessed in recent days. The COTU Secretary General referred his affirmations to former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s approach which yielded fruits during his tenure as the head of state.

Francis Atwoli noted that Raila has done so much for Kenya and should be recognized as a national leader.

Raila Odinga did a lot for this country. He fought for the second liberation and the Constitution. For that, we recognise him as a national leader. We should find him a job even if it is similar to the one he held as the Head of Infrastructure for the African Union.”
Atwoli remarked.

Either, the Sec. General suggested that if an international duty is not available for Odinga, he should be given a board in the government agency to serve as the chairman. Thus, this will have the opposition chief occupied bringing to an end the demonstrations held by the Azimio la Umoja team.

Atwoli also mentioned that he was among the first leaders in the country to accept William Ruto’s presidency after the August 9, 2022, general elections. He also added that peace is so paramount in a nation. Citing that leadership in Sudan is the one major reason bringing about conflicts.

Immediately after the Supreme Court ruling, I was among the first leaders in the country to recognise Ruto as the President.
Peace is paramount in this country, I cannot let us go the Sudan way where there is conflict due to leadership issues.”
He said.

During his speech, he also revealed that despite being among the top Azimio la Umoja luminaries, on the way towards the election dates, fellow Azimio bigwig Maina Kamanda had them prepared for the loss of the presidential election to William Ruto.
