Raila Issues A New Warning Ahead Of Mukami Kimathi’s Funeral

As Mukami Kimathi’s Funeral plans are underway, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga paid his respect to the body after paying a visit to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, on Sunday, May 8. The late Mukami Kimathi is the widow of renowned freedom fighter Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi.

The opposition chief told of political leaders, more so Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, not to politicize the send-off of Mukami in pursuit of scoring political points.

The late Dedan Kimathi and his wife the late Mukami Kimathi fought for the independence of Kenya and their role should be appreciated by all Kenyans. Now that preparations for Mukami’s burial are in progress.
It is an issue that can be solved by the government, that has been basically pushed over a long period of time. I do not want anybody including the deputy president to try to politicise this issue or score political points over a very very sad affaire for the nation.”

Raila Odinga asked the Government to Conduct State Funeral for Mama Mukami Kimathi

Raila Odinga also asked the government to conduct the final funeral service in honor of the late veteran freedom fighter at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, the very place where other Mau Mau freedom fighters were tortured.

I would wish the final state funeral service in honour of the late Maitu Mukami Kimathi to be held at Uhuru Gardens where Mau Mau freedom fighters were being tortured.”

Either, he reinstated that he will be in attendance at the funeral of the late Mukami and he neither needs someone’s invitation in order to be part of the mourners in Njabini. Raila also disclosed that he has been so close with Mama Mukami Kimathi and her role and that of her late husband Field Marshall Kimathi for independence will forever be in Kenyans’ hearts.

I cannot miss attending the funeral of Shujaa Mama Mukami wa Kimathi. We have been close and I will be in Njabini for her final ceremony on earth. Her role and that of her late husband in fighting for the independence of our country is indelible in the hearts of all Kenyans.”

Raila odinga added.

Mukami Kimathi’s body has been lying at the Lee Funeral home since she died and several leaders across the country have been sending their condolences to the family.

She is expected to the buried next week at her home in Nyandarua County.
