London Marathon is the annual marathon that is held in the United Kingdom. It is typically held in April, but in 2020 and 2021 was moved to October due to covid- pandemic.
Kenya is among the countries that will send their athletes to participate in the event which will be held on 23rd April 2023. Kenya is well known for producing the best athletes across the globe.

What is special about the 2023 London Marathon?
This year’s event is special because it has convened the best athletes ever witnessed in the history of marathon running.
The world holder, world beaters, and Olympic champions are expected to square it out in the streets of London on Sunday.
Dominating world record holder Brigid Kosgei, 2020 Tokyo Olympics champion Peres Jepchirchir and 2022 world athletics silver medalist Judith Korir are set to light up the women’s event for team Kenya.
Other women who will participate in the event are Genzebe Dibaba from Ethiopia, Sifa Hassan, Yalemzerf Yehaulaw, Almaz Ayana, and Tigist Assefa. Brigid will face tough competition from Dibaba of Ethiopia. She is also the world 1500m holder.

Apart from Kosgei and Dibaba, the line-up features three other national record holders: Emily Sisson from the USA, Australia’s Sinead Diver, and Natasha Wodak from Canada. In total, the 2023 London Marathon elite women’s event will feature 10 women
In the men’s category, freshly minted champions in this marathon Amos Kipruto from Kenya, Geoffrey Kamworor, Kenenise Bekele, and fast-rising ace Kevin Kiptum have been confirmed for the event. Amos will not have an easy time since he will have to compete with Bekele from Ethiopia, who is among the best runners in the marathon.
